Game rules

How the ladder, today’s show, friend challenges and free tournaments work. Everything is free, and practice naira has no cash value.

The ladder

Fifteen questions, from easy to properly hard. Every correct answer moves you one rung up the ladder, from ₦100 to ₦1,000,000 in practice naira. Practice naira is a score, not money.

Answering

  • You have 20 seconds for each question. On question 1, the clock starts with your first move.
  • Pick an answer, then lock it in. You can change your pick until you lock it.
  • Once you lock in, your answer is final.
  • If the clock runs out before you lock in, the question counts as missed, even if you had picked an answer.

Safe havens and walking away

  • Questions 5 and 10 are safe havens, worth ₦1,000 and ₦32,000. Clear one and you cannot leave that ladder with less.
  • A wrong answer, or running out of time, drops you to your last safe haven. Before question 5, that means ₦0.
  • Once you have banked something, you can walk away instead of answering the current question and keep everything you have banked.
  • Answer question 15 correctly to reach the top: ₦1,000,000.

Lifelines

You get four lifelines on each ladder, and each one works once. Use them before you lock in. You can use more than one on the same question.

  • 50:50 removes two wrong answers.
  • Ask the crowd shows a vote. It is simulated, not real players, and the crowd gets less reliable as the questions get harder.
  • Call your padi rings a simulated friend, who picks an answer and tells you how sure they are. Your padi can be wrong, especially near the top.
  • +20s adds twenty seconds to the clock.

Today’s show

  • Each day has one show: the same 15 questions for everyone who plays that day.
  • Days run on Lagos time. A new show starts at midnight in Lagos.
  • Your first ladder of the day is today’s show. After that, you get fresh practice ladders, and you can replay today’s show.
  • Your streak counts the days in a row you play today’s show to the end, however far you get. Miss a day and it resets. Replays do not change your streak.
  • Streaks and practice records are saved on your device, so they do not follow you to another phone or browser.

Friend challenges

  • Share a challenge link and your friend plays the same 15 questions you did.
  • The link can show how far you got, and your username if you are signed in.
  • It is not a live match. Each of you plays in your own time, and there is no shared leaderboard.

Free tournaments

  • Sign in and choose a username, then join before the start. Late entry is closed. Each preview round takes up to 500 players.
  • Everyone gets the same question at the same time. The round page shows how many questions there are and how long you get for each. The next question opens automatically.
  • Tap an answer to submit it immediately. It cannot change. The shared timer is usually 10–15 seconds; the server allows one extra second for network delivery.
  • A correct answer earns 500–1,000 points based on when it reaches the server. Faster answers earn more. Wrong, skipped and missed answers score zero.
  • Every player gets one free 50:50 per round. There is no extra-time lifeline in tournaments.
  • Switching away before answering can score that question zero. Desktop switches have a 1.5-second grace period. Stay on the round page while playing.
  • Skip a question and it scores zero. You cannot answer it afterwards.
  • Leave and you keep the points you have earned so far, but you cannot rejoin or answer more questions.
  • While a round is live, the standings count only questions that have closed. Usernames and scores are visible to anyone viewing the round.

Demo prizes

Five positions share a demo pool:

  • 1st: 40%
  • 2nd: 25%
  • 3rd: 15%
  • 4th: 12%
  • 5th: 8%
  • Tied players share the prizes for the positions they occupy. For example, two players tied for 2nd share the 2nd and 3rd prizes, 20% each. Ties can stretch past 5th place, so there can be more than five winners.
  • You need at least one correct answer to receive a demo award.
  • Positions nobody occupies are not awarded.

Demo prizes have no cash value. Nothing is credited to you or paid out.

Fair play

  • One account per person.
  • No bots, scripts or other automated tools.
  • During tournaments, no looking up answers with AI tools, search engines, other people or any other source.
  • Do not share answers or work with other players during a live round.
  • Found a bug? Tell us at contact@kerux8.com instead of using it.

Breaking these rules can lead to removal from standings and closure of your account. The terms of use have the full details.
